My name is Jean Malpas (pronouns he, him and his). I am a psychotherapist, trainer and consultant with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals, couples and families in private practice and community-based clinics. I hold licenses in NYS as Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

My areas of practice with individuals include anxiety, depression, addiction, isolation, gender, sexuality and relationship-related challenges, as well as navigating cultural adjustments.

As a couples therapist, I support Straight and LGBTQ couples better connect and overcome relationship impasses in various situations. In particular, I have extensive experience supporting couples around issues involving fidelity, loyalty, boundaries and/or openness.

As the Founder & Executive Director of the Gender & Family Project at the Ackerman Institute, I have developed clinical and training expertise with families and youths navigating gender diversity, trans-affirmative mental health and transition as a family.

While I am not in network with any private insurance, I am reimbursable through out-of-network benefits or other health/work programs. My office is conveniently located in the Flatiron area in Manhattan.

As a public speaker and professional trainer, I have provided tailored keynotes and workshops to small and large audiences around the United States and globally. Topics often include trans and gender expansive youth, family acceptance, couple and family therapy, LGBTQ competency and gender inclusivity in the workplace and in psychotherapy practice.
